We are looking for a Policy Officer to join the Alzheimer’s Society.
Location: Home Based
Contract: Permanent
Applications close: 23:59 on Tuesday 16th December
About the role
This role is key to supporting Alzheimer’s Society’s ambitions to drive major system and policy change in diagnosis, care and treatment across England, Northern Ireland and Wales. Evidence‑based, collaborative, engaging and innovative policymaking will be central to everything you do. You will help determine the Society’s stance on big issues affecting dementia, supporting policy development and ensuring our influencing activity is evidence‑driven, timely and relevant across the three nations.
As a Policy Officer you will be an expert policy advisor, supporting Policy Managers to deliver against integrated plans, monitor progress, gather evidence and data, and engage others in the policy development process.
About you
Applicants should have experience working in a complex policy environment with a sound understanding of the wider political context, preferably in health and care. You should be able to involve patients, service users or those living with long‑term health conditions in your work, be a team player and natural collaborator, have strong attention to detail, communication skills and the ability to translate complex data and developments into clear, accessible policy content.
What you’ll focus on
- Scoping, developing and mobilising policy positions in line with organisational priorities.
- Monitoring and reporting progress on policy activity and informing influential approaches at national and local levels.
- Ensuring the experience and insight of people with and affected by dementia is central to all policy work.
- Embedding a systems leadership approach across organisational and geographical boundaries.
- Driving engagement, awareness and involvement through effective communication across the Society and beyond.
- Building sustainable relationships with external stakeholders such as NHS partners, government, think tanks and charities.
Our commitment to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging
We strongly encourage individuals with a disability, impairment, health condition or those who identify as part of a minority ethnic background to apply, as these groups are under‑represented at Alzheimer’s Society.
What we offer
We provide a generous double‑matched pension scheme, 27 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays and wellbeing days, a free Health Shield Cash Plan, 24/7 EAP, Thrive mental wellbeing support, virtual GP services, Society Plus discounts, flexible working, family‑friendly policies and life assurance. We also offer a free will‑writing service and long‑service awards to recognise commitment.
