About The Role
Are you a compassionate and reliable Head Chef looking to make a genuine difference in people's lives? Kitnocks House is looking for dedicated individuals with at least one year's experience within a care home setting to join our award-winning team. Our 63-bed home is made up of four specialised units, each providing high-quality, person-centred care for residents living with complex needs, including dementia, mental health conditions, or other neurological disorders. What You'll Bring
- Minimum 2 years experience working as a Chef
- Understanding of COSHH, Food Hygiene and Regulations surrounding food safety
- IDDSI/Specialist diet provision experience (required)
- Effective communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Experience working in a care home (desirable)
- Level 3 food hygiene (required)
Your Working Pattern
42 hours per week every other weekend required 06:45 - 18:15, 3 shifts one week, 4 shifts the following week.
What You'll Be Doing
- Responsible for running the Kitchen and line managing the Second Chef and 2 Kitchen Assistants
- Building and preparing menus and ensuring we are providing a good variety of meals, whilst ensuring dietary requirements are met
- Work within the services budget and utilise the most cost-effective solutions whilst not compromising on quality of food and service
- Ensure all working practice and the kitchen management is operating in line with Health & Safety, Infection Prevention & Control, Food Hygiene Standards and COSHH
- Ensure food is prepared in line with IDDSI guidelines and meets the requirements of the residents as identified by the clinical team
- Order food and manage orders to ensure there is sufficient stock
- Cooperate with the implementation, evaluation, orientation and induction of all new employees
- Manage the kitchen rota to ensure there is suitable cover at all times, whilst working in line with agreed staffing levels
- Attend regular site meetings and provide updates as and when required.
