Established Family-Owned Manufacturing Business

Salary: £40,000 plus bonus

Start date – As soon as possible

We are working with a successful, long-established family-owned manufacturing business to recruit a confident and highly capable Office Manager. This is a broad and varied position at the heart of the business, working closely with the owners and providing day-to-day support across administration, customer service, suppliers and general office operations. It is a classic Office Manager role where no two days will be exactly the same. The successful person will be organised, practical and comfortable handling a wide range of responsibilities. You will need the confidence to make decisions, solve problems and build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and colleagues across the business.

The role

  • Managing the daily operation of the office and acting as a central point of contact across the business
  • Working closely with the business owners and providing trusted administrative and operational support
  • Handling customer enquiries professionally and ensuring issues are followed through to resolution
  • Liaising with suppliers, maintaining strong relationships and helping to resolve queries
  • Coordinating diaries, meetings, travel arrangements and general business administration
  • Managing correspondence, documentation, filing and company records
  • Supporting the processing of orders, invoices, purchase orders and related paperwork
  • Monitoring office supplies, services and facilities
  • Supporting internal communication between the office, production and wider business
  • Helping to coordinate new starters, holidays, absence records and general people administration
  • Assisting with company events, visitors and occasional projects
  • Reviewing office processes and identifying ways to improve organisation and efficiency
  • Taking ownership of unexpected issues and ensuring they are dealt with calmly and effectively
  • Providing broader support wherever required within a busy, hands-on family business

About you

  • We are looking for an experienced Office Manager, Senior Administrator or Business Support professional who enjoys being involved in different areas of a company.
  • You will be confident, approachable and comfortable dealing with people at every level
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage several priorities at once
  • Professional and credible when communicating with customers and suppliers
  • Proactive and willing to take ownership rather than waiting to be directed
  • Practical, resourceful and capable of resolving day-to-day problems
  • Comfortable working closely with business owners in a trusted position
  • Discreet when handling confidential or commercially sensitive information
  • Accurate and attentive to detail
  • A strong communicator, both verbally and in writing
  • Competent in Microsoft Office and comfortable learning internal business systems
  • Happy to work in a fast-moving environment where flexibility and teamwork are important

Previous experience within manufacturing, distribution or another product-led business would be helpful, although it is not essential. More important is your ability to bring structure, energy and reliability to a varied role.

The opportunity

This is an important and visible appointment within a well-established business with a long history and a strong family culture. You will work directly with the owners, gain exposure to many different areas of the company and have the freedom to make a genuine contribution to how the office and wider business operate. For someone who enjoys variety, responsibility and being the person others can rely upon, this is an excellent long-term opportunity.
