Role Overview
We are looking for a data leader to oversee our client's Data capability and support the continued growth of technical delivery within the business. This is a senior role suited to someone with a strong technical foundation who has moved into leadership, delivery oversight, and commercial growth.
The successful candidate will bring previous hands‑on technical experience alongside strong people management, stakeholder management, and sales capability. They will be expected to lead technical engagements through others, support the development of the team, and help win and grow client work.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the Data capability, supporting quality delivery across technical projects and client engagements.
- Lead, coach, and develop team members within the Data function.
- Provide day‑to‑day leadership across delivery, team management, and stakeholder engagement.
- Support resource planning and help ensure the right capability is in place across engagements.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to shape the direction of the Data offering.
- Contribute to business development activity, including identifying opportunities, supporting proposals, and helping convert new work.
- Lead or support sales discussions on technical and data‑focused engagements.
- Translate technical concepts into clear, practical language for clients and internal stakeholders.
- Support interview and hiring processes for new team members where needed.
- Help maintain a high‑performance culture within the team, balancing technical credibility with strong leadership.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for someone who combines technical credibility with leadership presence and commercial awareness.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience operating at Senior Manager level or equivalent, ideally within a consulting, advisory, or professional services environment.
- Proven experience delivering within the Financial Services industry is required. Experience within the Public Sector is desirable.
- Strong people management experience, including coaching, performance management, and team development.
- Proven sales and business development experience, particularly in technical or data‑led engagements.
- Previous hands‑on experience in a technical role, even if they are no longer working as an individual contributor day to day.
A background in one or more of the following:
- Software or coding‑based technical delivery
- Confidence discussing technical topics with both specialist and non‑specialist audiences.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to build credibility quickly.
- Experience leading teams through complex delivery environments.
Technical Background
This role does not require someone who is currently hands‑on every day, but it does require genuine technical depth built through previous experience.
Useful backgrounds may include:
- Coding or software development experience
- Data analysis experience
- Experience working on technical client engagements
- Experience leading teams delivering data or technology projects
There is no strict requirement for a single programming language. Broader technical credibility and the ability to understand, challenge, and guide technical work are more important than current day‑to‑day coding output.
Management Experience Required
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:
- Experience managing a team of at least 10 and developing high-performing individuals and teams.
- Confidence handling performance conversations when needed.
- The ability to create clarity, structure, and accountability within a team.
- Experience supporting the growth of more junior team members.

- Experience contributing to revenue growth.
- Experience identifying and developing client opportunities.
- Experience supporting or leading proposals for technical work.
