Salary: £35,000 - £42,500
Hours: Full Time Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Midweek and weekend overtime available)
About the role
As a Senior Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing engineering shifts, leading the installation and maintenance of track systems, and ensuring the successful delivery of projects. You will act as a mentor to junior engineers, direct setting out and surveying works, and ensure all activities align with industry standards and safety requirements. This role offers the chance to work across a variety of rail projects, including mainline and depot tamping, track installation, and inspections.

Key Responsibilities:
- Deputise for the Principal Engineer when required
- Lead engineering shifts and manage site operations
- Install datum and geometry plates, and oversee track inspections
- Mentor and support trainee engineers
- Direct setting out and surveying works, ensuring precision and compliance
- Oversee engineering works including tamping, excavations, and S&C panel installations
- Ensure track installation and site works are completed to the highest standards
- Work closely with the principal contractor/client to meet project requirements and deadlines
- Adhere to all company, health, safety, and industry standards
Requirements:
- Relevant experience in rail engineering and track operations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- In-depth understanding of track engineering and general site operations
- Knowledge of industry standards, laws, and legislation
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
- PTS, ICI, and Track Induction certification
- Educated to ONC level (minimum)
- Level 1 4 Hand-back Ticket and Level 1 2 Stressing Ticket
Desirable:
- Approved CRE and CEM
- Level 3 Stressing Ticket
- HNC or higher qualification in Engineering, Management, or a related field
- Bachelors or Masters degree in a relevant subject
- Member of a professional institute (e.g., ICE, PWI)
