Griffiths are looking for a Highways Operative to join the IOACC Traffic Management Contract (TMC) team on Anglesey. This is a front‑line, hands‑on role supporting the maintenance, repair and safe operation of public highways and street lighting services. The role involves working outdoors in all weather conditions and being part of an on‑call rota for emergency and reactive works.
What you’ll be doing:
- Carrying out highways maintenance and construction works
- Repairing roads, footways and cycleways
- Installing and repairing kerbs, paving and surfacing
- Repairing potholes and cracks in road surfaces
- Maintaining roadside verges and drainage systems
- Installing and maintaining highway assets such as signs, posts, bollards, barriers and street lighting columns
- Operating plant, vehicles and tools (where trained), including excavators, dumpers, rollers and gritters
- Supporting winter maintenance, including gritting and snow clearance
- Responding to emergency and reactive works as part of an on‑call rota
- Communicating with the public when required while working on the public highway
