Combe Martin Primary School is seeking to appoint a caring, enthusiastic and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a small coastal school where children are at the heart of everything we do and where staff work closely together to ensure every pupil is supported to achieve their best.
The successful candidate will primarily work to support a child in Reception, helping them to access learning and fully engage in school life. This will include providing 1:1 support within the classroom, adapting activities where needed, and supporting the child’s social, emotional and communication development. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENDCo to implement personalised strategies and support plans.
We are looking for someone who is patient, nurturing and adaptable, with the ability to build a strong, trusting relationship with a young child. Experience of working with early years pupils and/or children with special educational needs is highly desirable. A good understanding of child development, play-based learning and inclusive practice would be beneficial.
Strong communication skills, a positive and proactive approach, and a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children are essential.
