Are you looking for a role where you can genuinely make a difference every single day? Do you value strong relationships, personalised support, and being part of a caring and committed school community?

We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join Webbers and Burlescombe Church of England Primary Schools, two small and welcoming village schools set in the beautiful rural landscape of Mid Devon. This is an especially exciting time to join us. The schools will be transferring to The Academies for Character and Excellence (ACE) at the end of the summer term, and this recruitment is being undertaken in partnership with Alumnis. This transition brings a wealth of opportunity.

ACE is a Trust deeply committed to providing an exceptional education for every child, underpinned by a strong belief in equity, collaboration, and uncompromising excellence. Their approach goes beyond the classroom, placing real emphasis on character education, personal development, and ensuring that every pupil and every member of staff is supported to thrive.

Both schools provide nurturing environments where every child is known, valued, and encouraged to flourish. Burlescombe School is organised into two mixed-age classes spanning Reception to Year 6, while Webbers School has three classes. The small-school environment is a real strength, enabling staff to build strong relationships with pupils and families and provide tailored support to help every child succeed.

We are seeking to appoint a skilled and caring Higher Level Teaching Assistant who will work closely with teaching staff to support learning across the schools. The successful candidate will be confident leading learning activities and interventions, covering classes where required, and supporting pupils across a range of ages and abilities. You will play a key role in helping children to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally within our inclusive and nurturing environments.

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, flexible, and committed to achieving the very best outcomes for children. You will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work collaboratively as part of a small and dedicated team, and a passion for supporting children’s learning and development. Experience of working within a primary school setting is essential, and HLTA status or equivalent experience is desirable. You will also embrace and contribute to the Christian ethos and values that underpin our schools.

In return, we offer the opportunity to work in settings where small class sizes and close-knit communities allow for meaningful relationships and personalised support. You will join a warm, caring, and supportive team, working with enthusiastic and well-behaved children who enjoy learning. Alongside this, you will benefit from being part of The Academies for Character and Excellence, with access to high-quality professional development, collaboration across a wider network of schools, and opportunities to grow and flourish in your career.

Visits to the schools are warmly encouraged, as we would love you to experience first-hand what makes Webbers and Burlescombe such special places to work and learn. To arrange a visit, please contact the school on 01823 672521 or 01823 672510. Further information and application forms can be downloaded from Alumnis Careers. Completed applications should be sent to recruitment@alumnismat.org. This post has been advertised across multiple platforms and we reserve the right to interview upon receipt of suitable applications. Early application is therefore strongly encouraged.

Join us at a pivotal and exciting moment of change, and become part of a community where you can truly make a lasting impact.
