South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust is one of the leading mental health providers in the UK, delivering services across more than 90 sites and providing both local and highly specialised care nationally. Through strong partnerships with King’s Health Partners, academic institutions and local communities, the Trust plays a central role in advancing mental health care, research and innovation.

We are now seeking to appoint a Non-Executive Director with significant experience in digital and data transformation to join the Board at a pivotal moment.

Digital transformation at SLaM is central to improving patient outcomes, staff experience and organisational performance. The Trust’s Digital and Data Strategy sets out an ambitious three year programme to strengthen digital foundations, improve data quality, embed confident digital adoption and harness innovation responsibly to support high quality, equitable mental health care. This includes delivering a modern and clinically aligned Electronic Patient Record, enabling integrated systems and seamless care pathways, improving reporting and research capability, and developing a digitally skilled workforce. The Trust is also committed to using data and emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, responsibly to enhance productivity, decision making and patient outcomes.

As a Non-Executive Director, you will play a key role in supporting and challenging the Trust’s leadership to ensure digital transformation is clinically led, user focused and fully integrated into the wider strategy for quality, safety and sustainability. You will help the Board adopt a digital first mindset, ensuring technology and data are seen as core enablers of care rather than standalone functions. You will bring senior board level experience of leading digital and data transformation in large, complex organisations. We are particularly interested in leaders who can translate complex digital and data issues into clear strategic choices and who can support the Board in understanding risk, prioritisation and benefits realisation.

More broadly, as a member of a unitary Board, you will support the Chair and Executive team in setting strategic direction, providing constructive challenge and ensuring strong governance, risk management and accountability. You will also help the Trust remain focused on patient safety, staff experience, equity and improving outcomes for the communities it serves.

We welcome applications from individuals with a strong commitment to public service, a passion for improving mental health care and a track record of digital transformation delivery in complex environments. This is an opportunity to contribute at Board level to one of the UK’s most influential mental health organisations and to help shape how digital and data can support outstanding, inclusive and future focused care.
