Field Based 1st Line Support Engineer / IT Technician with some 2nd Line Support experience is required to visit client sites in Central London to carry out basic IT support duties such as installing and upgrading hardware in PCs and Laptops, rolling out new software and carrying out basic software and networking troubleshooting.
SALARY: up to £35,000 per annum (depending on experience and qualifications) + Benefits
LOCATION: Travel to client sites in Central London. When not on client sites you will be based in the company’s head office near Holborn, London, providing remote technical support from the service desk.
JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent
KEY REQUIREMENTS: Working at client sites in Central London is essential to the role. You will be working alone, so must be confident in your IT skills as you will be carrying out basic IT support tasks but will also have an experienced technical team on hand at the company’s headquarters to help you remotely if needed.
DUTIES:
- Hardware Installation: Getting new desktop PCs and laptops up and running smoothly for clients.
- Software Rollouts: Deploying new applications and updates efficiently and effectively.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnosing and resolving a range of technical issues on-site, escalating more complex problems as needed to the second and third line support engineers.
- Customer Service: Building strong relationships with clients, providing clear communication, and ensuring a positive support experience.
- Documentation: Keeping accurate records of work carried out and solutions implemented.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS: You’ll be a proactive and self-motivated individual with a genuine passion for technology and a real flair for customer interaction. Ideally, you’ll have:
- Proven experience in a 1st line technical support role, with some exposure to 2nd line duties.
- Solid understanding of Windows operating systems, desktop and laptop hardware, and common software applications.
- Experience with software deployment tools and methodologies (desirable).
- Excellent troubleshooting skills, with a logical and methodical approach to problem-solving.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; you’ll be comfortable explaining technical concepts to non-technical users.
- A professional and presentable demeanour, as you’ll be representing the company on client premises.
- A strong work ethic and the ability to manage your own workload effectively.
