Our client, an International Commodity and Trading company, is looking for a Senior Legal Advisor - Shipping focusing on supporting commodity and shipping transactions especially in the UK, handling trade and charter party contracts, and advising on legal matters across oil, gas, and biofuels within a fast-paced global environment.
Duties Include:
- Advise front-office teams on legal aspects of commodity transactions, including contract structuring and risk mitigation.
- Draft and negotiate general terms and conditions, shipping documentation, and bespoke trade agreements.
- Support business continuity by proactively identifying legal risks and proposing pragmatic, business-aligned solutions.
- Lead engagement with external law firms, ensuring cost-effective and high-quality legal representation.
- Contribute to the development and roll-out of legal policies, standards, and internal governance frameworks.
- Collaborate on cross-functional ESG initiatives, supporting sustainability goals through legal insight and compliance.
The preferred candidate will ideally have experience in oil/gas, biofuels, or commodities trading and international shipping, with strong expertise in English law. Fluency in English is required; German language skills are a strong asset. You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrate the ability to deal with negotiation and reviews of contracts in Switzerland.
