Altus Partners has been retained by a leading impact and sustainability organisation committed to bringing scientific ideas to tangible products and services that address the global challenges facing the world today (across life sciences, climate, agriculture, and public sector innovation). By fostering a highly collaborative environment and bringing together policymakers, entrepreneurs, and scientists, they aim to build a system that seeks to address the traditional limitations surrounding the conversion of research into business ideas.

The search is for an experienced professional who can lead a team of strategists and project managers to support the development of these initiatives and programs, taking an idea from early formation through to business case/plan and transition into a permanent delivery structure. This role is suitable for a candidate with experience in venture creation, private equity, or management consulting.

THE ROLE:

  • Lead the strategy team, overseeing both personnel and financial resources to drive program development.
  • Manage the full program development lifecycle, from ideation to structured business plans.
  • Bring together cross-functional teams, including senior scientists, AI experts, and key stakeholders, to advance new concepts.
  • Define and track corporate strategy, ensuring measurable impact and organisational progress.
  • Oversee special projects, spanning internal strategic initiatives and unique science/technology ventures beyond standard programs.
  • Maintain visibility into the program pipeline, optimizing resource allocation and strategic alignment.
  • Ensure consistency across platforms and initiatives, leveraging organisational strengths to drive innovation.
  • Clearly communicate corporate strategy and program priorities to leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Promote collaboration across programs and special projects to enhance collective impact.

THE REQUIREMENTS:

  • 15+ years of relevant experience, including 5+ years in business development, strategy consulting, or a related field.
  • 10+ years in management, with a strong track record in leadership and team development.
  • Demonstrated ability to take ideas from early-stage development to commercialisation and scale.
  • Deep expertise in at least one of the following domains: Medical Science, Food Security/Agriculture, Energy Efficiency, Government Innovations.
  • Strong proficiency in AI, machine learning, policy, and scaling innovations.
  • Advanced degree (Master’s or Doctorate) in business, science/technology policy, or a relevant technical field (preferred but not required).
