Altus Partners have been retained by a leading Asset Manager with the appointment of a Group Financial Controller - Asset Management, reporting directly to the Group CFO. The successful incumbent will maintain oversight of Private Equity funds and lead all aspects of fund accounting, financial close, capital balance sheet management, acquisition accounting, and statutory reporting. With recent acquisitions, this role will be essential in integrating newly acquired companies, ensuring IFRS and GAAP compliance, and managing fund structuring.
THE ROLE:
- Oversee accurate and timely financial and commercial reporting for Private Equity funds and asset portfolios.
- Lead financial close processes, ensuring robust controls and compliance with IFRS and GAAP.
- Manage capital balance sheet activities and acquisition accounting, integrating newly acquired companies.
- Oversee the statutory reporting process, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Lead and develop the finance function, ensuring the team has the necessary skills and expertise.
- Manage the AP, AR, and revenue invoicing teams.
- Work closely with the Head of Tax and Reporting Accountant to ensure financial compliance and optimization.
- Implement the new NetSuite General Ledger, driving process efficiencies and automation.
- Play an active governance role on Private Equity Boards and audit committees in Japan and Hong Kong.
- Oversee cash flow forecasting, covenant reporting, and capital management.
- Support transaction processes, fund structuring, and financial due diligence as the business continues its acquisition strategy.
- Improve financial reporting timelines to meet investor and regulatory requirements.
THE REQUIREMENTS:
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with at least five years of post-qualification experience.
- Strong technical accounting skills with deep expertise in IFRS and GAAP.
- Proven track record in Private Equity fund accounting, financial structuring, and governance.
- Experience in leading and developing finance teams within a complex financial services environment.
- Ability to implement process improvements and scale financial operations in a growing business.
- Experience with financial systems implementation, particularly NetSuite.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, capable of operating at a senior level with internal and external parties.
- Proactive, analytical, and strategic thinker, able to drive efficiencies and support future growth initiatives.
- Experience in a fast-paced, acquisitive business environment is highly desirable.
