Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire | Hybrid (3 days office / 2 days home) £35,000–£40,000 basic + uncapped, tiered commission

We're hiring, and we want to do it properly! In four years, Altura has made over 350 placements, built trusted relationships with more than 150 property and construction consultancies - everything from leading global firms to some of our industry's most ambitious start-ups, and assembled a team with close to 40 years of combined experience in this market. Our leadership team has personally billed in excess of £5m in fees across their careers.

None of that happened by accident, and none of it happened quickly. It happened because we've stayed disciplined about who we hire and how we operate, even when it would have been easier not to. So when we say we're looking for someone with real recruitment experience rather than just potential, we mean it. It's how we got here.

Altura is a boutique recruitment consultancy operating exclusively within the built environment. We place white collar property & construction professionals - Building Surveyors, Fire Engineers, Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors and CDM/Principal Designer professionals, into private practice and consultancy roles across the UK. We don't chase volume, and we don't churn CVs. We build relationships with clients and candidates that last years, not weeks. If that sounds slower than the agency down the road, it is. It's also why people stay with us.

We see ourselves as strategic partners to our clients rather than a CV-sending service, and we're on a genuine mission to change how recruitment consultancies are perceived because of it. Professionalism and integrity are the actual standard we hold ourselves to, with clients and candidates alike. In practice, that's meant advising candidates to stay in roles they're happy in rather than push a move that doesn't need to happen, and telling clients things about their hiring process they didn't necessarily want to hear. We'd rather lose a fee than damage the trust we've spent years building, and it's why people keep coming back to us.

The role involves developing a warm desk - a genuine opportunity to build something from within a business that already has the credibility and relationships in the wider market to back you, rather than starting completely from scratch. You'll run your own 360 desk - winning clients, generating candidates, managing the full process end to end. There will be long stretches where the work you're putting in doesn't show up in the results yet, conversations that go nowhere, and the occasional deal you've spent months on that falls over the night before it's meant to complete. The job rewards people who can keep doing the right things consistently, especially on the weeks when nothing seems to be landing. It also means real ownership and genuine autonomy - the chance to build something that's actually yours.

We're looking for someone who wants a career here, not just a job, and is willing to come on a genuine journey with us to build it:

  • At least 2 years' experience in permanent recruitment, ideally running a 360 desk
  • Resilience - you can handle rejection, setbacks and slow weeks without it knocking you off course
  • A genuine sense of ownership and accountability, treating your desk like it's your own business
  • High personal standards around professionalism and integrity
  • Someone who wants to build a long-term career here rather than just hit this quarter's target
  • Curiosity about people and markets - you don't need to know about the markets we specialise in yet, you just need to be willing to learn

In return:

  • £35,000–£40,000 basic, depending on experience and proven billing history
  • A tiered commission structure that rewards consistency and genuinely escalates the better you do - full details at interview
  • Hybrid working: 3 days in our Gerrards Cross office, 2 days from home
  • A small, close-knit team rather than a call centre floor
  • Direct mentorship from a leadership team with over £5m in collective career billings

If you've read this far and you're still interested rather than put off, that's probably a good sign! Drop me a message or send your CV to - happy to have an honest conversation about whether this is the right fit.
