We’re on the lookout for a Trainee Accountant to join a brilliant accounting team based in Stockton Heath. This is a full-time role (37 hours a week) with flexible hours — core working hours are 9:30–3, and the rest can work around you. You’ll be office-based 3 days a week to start (for the first 2 months), then drop to 2 days in-office after that.

Hours: Full-time, 37 hours a week (flexible around 9:30am–3pm core)

Location: Hybrid – office based in Stockton Heath 2 days a week (3 to start)

Contract: Permanent

Salary: £26,000 – £30,000 (depending on experience)

What you’ll be doing:

  • Preparing year-end accounts and tax computations to draft stage and clearing review points
  • Drafting personal tax returns
  • Daily bookkeeping, maintaining accurate client records
  • Preparing VAT returns and management accounts to draft stage
  • Supporting your manager with client queries and ad hoc tasks
  • Participating in quarterly client catch-ups, building strong relationships and offering valuable insights

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has 0–4 years of accounting experience
  • Has AAT Level 2, 3, or 4 (or is working towards it)
  • Is curious, eager to learn, and passionate about accounting
  • Can explain financial info in a clear, human way – no robotic emails here!
  • Works well in a team and wants to make a real difference to clients

You’ll also need to show proof of right to work in the UK.
