Overview
Our client is one of Europe’s fastest-scaling technology businesses and is preparing for a US listing. As part of strengthening their internal controls environment, they are now building out the IT SOX offering to ensure their core systems, applications and technology processes meet SOX requirements. This is an excellent move for someone from practice with IT SOX experience, or for someone currently working in an in-house IT controls team.
The Role
This position focuses on setting up, documenting and testing the IT controls needed for SOX readiness. You’ll work closely with IT and key system owners to ensure core applications and IT processes meet SOX standards. It’s a hands-on, delivery-focused role where you’ll be helping to build the ITGC framework from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
- IT General Controls (ITGCs)
- Support the design and implementation of standard SOX ITGCs including:
- Documentation & Testing
- Document IT processes and controls in line with SOX requirements.
- Perform walkthroughs, risk assessments and control testing.
- Identify control gaps and support remediation activity.
- Work with system owners to ensure appropriate controls exist around key financial systems (ERP, billing, financial reporting tools, etc.).
- Assist in evaluating new systems or changes to existing systems for SOX impact.
- Prepare clear, high-quality documentation and evidence for internal and external audit.
- Support the business through IT control reviews and annual SOX testing cycles.
- Help mature and scale the IT SOX programme as the company moves toward IPO readiness.
- Contribute to creating consistent templates, documentation standards and repeatable processes.
Candidate Profile
- Experience in IT SOX or internal IT controls, gained either in practice or in-house.
- Strong understanding of standard SOX ITGC requirements.
- Detail-oriented and comfortable producing high-quality control documentation.
- Able to work effectively with IT and system owners in a growing, fast-moving business.
- Proactive, organised, and delivery-focused.
- Must be UK-based (fully remote role).
