A leading Infrastructure Consulting firm is looking for Senior Consultants to join their Energy Consulting team in the North, focusing on Electrical Engineering Advisory. The business has won multiple awards for best in class across a range of industries and services and is recognised as a leader in their field. They offer a suite of services to clients across the built environment, from advisory to construction and engineering, digital, sustainability, and project & programme management - along with having an excellent culture.
The business provides candidates the opportunity to work on some of the most complex and forward thinking projects in the market, which really make a difference to communities and business. Candidates will join a small Energy team based in Leeds, York, Sheffield, Manchester, Glasgow or Edinburgh, and will be responsible for the below:
- Provide expert advice to clients based on a strong engineering and technical background.
- Consult on net zero solutions and decarbonisation developments under various energy vectors & domains, particularly low carbon hydrogen, CCUS, Wind, Solar, New Fuels & Tidal, as well as energy distribution, district heating/cooling, renewable electricity generation (solar photovoltaic, wind and biomass), low carbon heat generation in the Northwest and Yorkshire geography as well as the wider UKIMEA region.
- Work on sustainability policy development and analysis, carbon management, renewables and climate services with regional stakeholders.
- Work for a range of clients including national, regional, and local government, energy developers, education establishments, industry, and healthcare providers.
- Optimise process for asset management applications.
- Decarbonisation masterplanning at an estate, city, regional and national scale.
- Contribute to the development of integrated projects with wider portfolio teams, prepare bids for client opportunities & funding rounds, specifically in the areas of decarbonisation.
Recent projects across the Energy team include solar photovoltaics, electricity storage, low temperature heat networks, low carbon heat generation, hydrogen for transport, biomass CHP projects, energy recovery facilities and standby gas generation for data centres, energy market reserves, university/healthcare campuses and data centres.
What you will bring:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Chartership and membership of relevant professional institution(s). Although it is not essential it is expected that you will be on the path to having chartership or membership of a relevant institution.
- Candidates with energy modelling, and related financial analysis techniques along with cross-disciplinary knowledge in the energy sector will be an advantage.
- An ability to lead technical consulting projects including energy infrastructure feasibility studies and portfolio or area energy strategies, as well as advising public and private sector clients on options, risks, and appropriate actions in their pursuit of net zero carbon.
- Electrical systems implementations and modelling is desirable, but more importantly a strong technical background.
- Be able to undertake strong project and technical analysis, reporting and presentation.
- Be able to develop business cases for energy investments and infrastructure refurbishments.
- Able to work independently coupled with strong presentation, client management and interpersonal skills.
- A strong work ethic and drive to deliver for the client.
This role is hybrid with time in office, client site and home and the business is open to considering candidates based in any of the above locations.
