The role involves playing a key part in turning organisational and people priorities into practical, measurable improvements in how teams work and perform. Operating as an internal consultant, you will work closely with leaders, HR Business Partners and Centres of Expertise to diagnose organisational challenges, frame clear options, and co-design interventions that improve leadership effectiveness, team performance and ways of working. You will ensure interventions are evidence-based, inclusive and aligned to agreed standards, and that changes are successfully adopted and embedded into day-to-day practice.
This is a highly collaborative, delivery-focused role within a flexible consulting pool, deploying across priority initiatives and adapting to different organisational contexts while remaining focused on agreed outcomes.
Key responsibilities:
- Partner with HR Business Partners and Centres of Expertise to scope work clearly, agreeing outcomes, timelines and indicators of success.
- Diagnose organisational challenges using structured methods including interviews, workshops and data analysis.
- Develop and present clear options and recommendations, outlining trade-offs and expected benefits to support informed decision-making.
- Co-design scalable organisational development interventions aligned to Centre of Expertise standards, focused on leadership, team effectiveness and change enablement.
- Deliver and facilitate OD interventions across a range of organisational settings, adapting in real time while maintaining focus on outcomes.
- Support adoption and embedding by collaborating with Organisational Effectiveness and Leadership & Talent teams to develop practical tools and guidance.
- Evaluate the impact of interventions using agreed measures and feedback loops, translating insight into actionable next steps and shared learning.
- Manage a balanced portfolio of commissioned work, planning logistics, resources and delivery to ensure safe, inclusive and effective outcomes.
- Build trusted relationships across the organisation, providing credible, evidence-based advice to influence sustainable change.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of OD practice, sharing insight and refining approaches in line with people strategy and organisational priorities.
- Uphold ethical, inclusive and accessible practice across diagnostics, facilitation and data handling.
About you:
- Proven experience in organisational development consulting, grounded in evidence and able to frame clear options, trade-offs and value.
- Strong team effectiveness expertise, including reading group dynamics, clarifying purpose and decision pathways, and facilitating high-stakes sessions with psychological safety.
- Experience designing and embedding culture and behaviour change through simple routines, rituals and reinforcers.
- Systems and workflow thinking, with the ability to simplify processes, anticipate digital implications and define clear acceptance criteria.
- Strong diagnostics and evaluation capability using mixed methods to set baselines, interpret results and iterate interventions.
- Demonstrated ability to enable change adoption through coaching, stakeholder engagement and practical enablement activities.
- Confidence influencing senior stakeholders and working across multiple workstreams without formal authority.
- Excellent communication skills, with a concise, decision-oriented storytelling style.
- A strong commitment to inclusive, ethical and accessible practice.
- Experience in a retail or customer-facing environment is desirable but not essential.
