An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Management Accountant to join a private equity-backed UK consumer business at a pivotal stage in its growth journey. Backed by significant investment and with an ambitious five-year strategic growth plan, the organisation is investing heavily in its people, processes and infrastructure. Reporting to the Financial Controller, the successful candidate will play a key role in delivering accurate management information, driving financial insight and partnering with stakeholders across the business.
Key Responsibilities- Preparation of monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy and consistency across the profit and loss account.
- Ownership of key month-end activities, including accruals, prepayments, reclassifications and other journal postings.
- Production of meaningful variance analysis, identifying trends and explaining financial performance to senior stakeholders.
- Business partnering with operational teams to support cost control, improve performance and provide financial insight.
- Acting as a key liaison between operational teams and the FP&A function.
- Ownership of balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring supporting schedules are accurate, complete and appropriately documented.
- Supporting monthly cash flow reporting, including monitoring working capital movements and operating cash drivers.
- Providing financial input into business initiatives and projects, assessing implications and tracking benefits realisation.
- Managing and developing an Assistant Management Accountant, reviewing outputs and supporting their ongoing development.
- Identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance reporting quality, month-end efficiency and financial controls.
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, part-qualified, or a strong QBE candidate with relevant experience.
- Previous experience within management accounting or commercial finance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience delivering insightful variance analysis and performance reporting.
- Confident business partnering with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- Ability to influence change and drive process improvement.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Previous experience mentoring or managing junior team members would be advantageous.
- Comfortable operating within a busy and evolving environment.
