We are seeking an experienced Group Financial Controller to lead financial control, reporting, and governance across a large, complex international NGO operating in multiple countries. This is a senior role at the heart of the organisation, combining rigorous financial stewardship with a strong commitment to the humanitarian and development mission.
The Group Financial Controller will ensure the integrity, transparency, and effectiveness of financial management across the organisation. You will lead group-wide accounting and consolidation, strengthen internal controls, and support donor compliance, while working closely with senior leaders and country teams around the world. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys operating in a high-impact, international environment and who can balance technical excellence with collaboration and cultural sensitivity.
Key Responsibilities- Lead group-wide financial accounting, consolidation, and statutory reporting across multiple entities and currencies
- Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes
- Maintain and improve robust internal controls, financial policies, and compliance frameworks across all country offices
- Manage group audits and act as the primary liaison with external auditors
- Drive continuous improvement in financial systems, processes, and standardisation
- Provide functional leadership to country finance teams and line management to head office staff
- Partner with the FD and other directors to support strategic decision-making and organisational sustainability
You are a confident, values-driven finance professional who brings both technical depth and leadership presence.
Required- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent)
- Significant experience in a senior financial control or group reporting role
- Strong experience with multi-entity, multi-currency consolidation
- Solid understanding of internal controls, audit, and governance
- Strong knowledge of UK charity reporting requirements
- Ability to work effectively across cultures and geographies
