About the Opportunity

The Corporate Risk Manager will be responsible for owning, developing and continuously improving English Heritage's Risk Management Framework, ensuring it remains effective, proportionate and embedded across the organisation. You will ensure robust risk governance arrangements are in place, including the development of risk appetite, oversight of corporate and directorate risk registers, and high-quality reporting to the Executive Team, Audit and Risk Committee, Board and other governance forums. The role will also provide oversight of the organisation's business continuity arrangements to ensure alignment with key organisational risks. You will facilitate and drive management discussions, decisions and strategies on risk at management and leadership meetings, collaborating with risk champions from Directorates, Projects and Programmes and sharing good practice. This role can be based anywhere across England and you will get the opportunity to work at some of the most significant sites England has to offer. Some travel to the London and Swindon offices will be required.

A bit about yourself

  • Proven risk management experience in a large organisation or consultancy including developing and supporting organisational risk registers to ensure clarity at a corporate level.
  • Demonstrable experience of business continuity planning and the use of business continuity measures as risk mitigation.
  • Proposing and challenging risk mitigations and monitoring their effective implementation.
  • Attending and presenting at governance boards.
  • Developing and implementing risk management frameworks across a complex organisation.
  • Developing and supporting key risk indicators to ensure the organisation is actively monitoring risk.

You will ideally have experience building a risk function from the ground up and be comfortable influencing senior stakeholders across the organisation.
