Altro are looking for an experienced operational leader to take ownership of the UK's national order management function. You will be based at our Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire HQ, but will also have responsibility for teams based in Lowestoft, Suffolk and Maiden Newton, Dorset. The role is a permanent, hybrid working role (3 days a week in the office) with the requirement to travel to our other UK sites from time to time.

You'll be responsible for ensuring customer orders and quotations are processed accurately, efficiently and consistently, delivering an outstanding experience for our customers while supporting the commercial success of the business. This is more than a customer service role. We're looking for someone who can think strategically, challenge existing ways of working and drive the future direction of our order management operation. You'll play a key role in shaping processes, improving performance, introducing automation and ensuring the function is ready to support future growth of the company.

Working closely with Commercial, Demand Planning, IT and Customer Insight teams, you'll turn business objectives into operational plans and lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance both efficiency and customer experience.

What we're looking for:

  • You'll be an experienced leader with a background in order management, customer operations, commercial operations or a similar environment.
  • You'll have experience leading order processing, order fulfilment, customer operations or sales support teams.
  • Experience managing managers and/or multi-site teams.
  • A proven track record of delivering process improvement, operational change and service improvement initiatives.
  • Strong experience working with ERP, CRM and order management systems.
  • Experience identifying and implementing automation opportunities.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across different functions and levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A customer-focused approach combined with commercial awareness.
  • The ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on operational leadership.

It would be great if you also have:

  • Experience within manufacturing, distribution, construction products or another B2B environment.
  • Experience leading system implementations, digital transformation or operational excellence programmes.
  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies.
