Are you an experienced administrator looking for a varied HR role within a supportive and established HR team? We're looking for an organised and proactive HR Administrator to join the Altro Group, on a 15 month fixed term contract to cover a period of maternity leave, supporting both Altro and Autoglym. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in delivering an efficient and professional HR service across our business. We would be looking for the successful candidate to start in early December 2026. This is a hybrid working role, where there is a requirement to be in offices based in Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire 3 days a week.

No two days are quite the same in this role. You'll provide essential administrative support across the employee lifecycle and work closely with the wider HR team to ensure a first-class service is delivered to employees and managers. Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining employee records and acting as a superuser of our HR and Payroll system (XCD).
  • Producing regular and ad hoc reports.
  • Preparing employment offers, contracts and associated documentation.
  • Supporting onboarding, contractual changes and employee departures.
  • Monitoring key employee milestones including probation reviews and anniversaries.
  • Managing the HR inbox and responding to HR-related queries.
  • Raising purchase orders and processing invoices.
  • Supporting Occupational Health administration, including referrals, appointments and health surveillance records.
  • Sending employee communications and drafting HR correspondence.
  • Providing administrative support to HR Business Partners and the wider HR team.
  • Covering Recruitment Administration activities when required.

As well as an exciting opportunity and a competitive salary, what do we have to offer?

  • Holiday entitlement starts at 25 days (pro rata); if you need a little extra... you can buy some more.
  • A defined contribution pension scheme available for all staff.
  • Hopefully never needed, but from day one you will be covered by our life assurance scheme.
  • Occupational Sick Pay and an onsite Occupational Health Service.
  • Confidential 24-hour life management and personal support service for you and your family.
  • Free eye tests are available for all employees.
  • A paid day off each year to take part in our volunteering scheme.
  • Learning and Development - training and development support, no matter where you are in your career.
  • We offer long service awards to all our employees.
  • A variety of social events across the group, including the company Christmas party.
  • It might be a long way off but we know it’s not always easy to stop working so we provide advice and support to ease the transition to retirement.

What we're looking for:

We're looking for someone who enjoys being organised, takes ownership of their workload and has a genuine interest in providing excellent HR support. You'll ideally have:

  • Previous HR administration experience within a busy HR environment.
  • Experience using HR systems and databases.
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • The ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) including English.
