This role is initially matchday focused but carries the responsibility of developing a business case for non‑matchday opening.

The Role

Altrincham FC is at an exciting stage of growth. We are looking for a proactive Retail & Ticketing Manager to oversee our matchday hub at the J.Davidson Stadium. Initially, your focus will be ensuring a seamless experience for fans on matchdays. However, we have a clear vision for the future: we want our Club Shop to be a community destination.

You will be tasked with identifying commercial opportunities, leading the technical implementation of our ticketing systems, managing our online presence, and building the foundations to transition the shop into a regular mid‑week retail operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commercial Development & Growth
    • Strategic Expansion: Develop and implement a plan to transition the shop from matchday only to a viable non-match day commercial operation.
    • Merchandising & Buying: Analyse sales data to influence stock selection and identify new product lines that appeal to the Alty fanbase and the wider community.
    • Online Integration: Manage the club’s e‑commerce platform, ensuring stock levels are synced and orders are fulfilled promptly.
  • Ticketing & Match‑Day Operations
    • System Implementation & Management: Lead the technical setup, configuration and daily management of the club's online digital ticketing platforms.
    • Matchday Access Control: Oversee match‑day gate operations, ticket launches, season tickets, and hospitality sales, ensuring digital scanning and box office systems run smoothly.
    • The Matchday Rush: Ensure the shop is fully prepared, stocked, and staffed to handle high‑volume footfall before kick‑off and during half‑time.
    • Systems Management: Master the club’s POS and ticketing software to ensure accurate reporting and a smooth fan experience.
  • Retail Stocktaking & Inventory Control
    • Stock Audits: Conduct regular, structured stocktaking, inventory audits, and variance tracking to control shrinkage and maintain stock accuracy.
    • Inventory Management: Oversee re‑ordering, price setting, and product catalogue maintenance across both physical and online store platforms.
    • Visual Merchandising: Maintain high visual standards on the shop floor to maximise footfall conversion before kick‑off, during half‑time, and post‑match.
  • Volunteer Leadership
    • Team Management: Lead and inspire a small, dedicated team of matchday volunteers.
    • Training: Provide hands‑on training to volunteers on customer service standards and cash‑handling procedures.
    • Retention: Foster a culture that makes volunteering at Alty FC a rewarding and enjoyable experience.
  • Financial Accountability
    • Manage all matchday reconciliation, and financial reporting.
    • Monitor stock loss and inventory accuracy.

Skill Requirements

  • Experience: Strong background in retail management. Experience in a sports or events‑based environment is a significant advantage.
  • Entrepreneurial Mindset: You don’t just want to run a shop; you want to grow a business.
  • Flexibility: You must be available for all home fixtures (Saturdays and Tuesday/Wednesday evenings). The remaining workdays will be focused on strategy and mid‑week operations.
  • Tech Proficiency: Comfortable with modern POS systems, digital online ticketing software, online retail platforms, and basic digital marketing.
  • Leadership: Ability to lead with a player‑manager style—willing to roll your sleeves up alongside your volunteers.

Why Join Altrincham FC?

  • Impact: You will be the driving force behind the club’s retail evolution.
  • Community: Be a key part of the Robins family during an era of significant progress on and off the pitch.
  • Growth: As the shop’s hours and revenue grow, so too will the scope of this role.
