Specialist Machinist - Permanent Full Time

Location – Based in Our Renfrew or Tipton Facilities with Specialist machining delivered through our Customers UK sites.

The Asset Management function within Altrad Babcock is a highly specialised engineering service and equipment provider supporting our customers to minimise cost, maximise return and mitigate risk through their asset’s integrity lifecycle.

The Operations function within our Asset Management business sector provides technical support across a wide range of projects and a diverse customer base. We currently have requirements for several Technicians to join our mission of delivering certified Asset Management service, consultancy, and integrated projects, across the global low carbon energy and infrastructure markets.

You will provide technical support in the field of Specialist Machining to support the continued growth and development of our Valve Refurbishment and Cross Fleet Tube Plugging and On-Site Machining products assisting with the upkeep and maintenance of department bespoke equipment.

As our new Technician, you will have the ability to fully participate as a supporting member of project team(s) in meeting time, working to cost and timescale targets on all projects thus fully satisfying the client’s valid requirements. You will support in the identification and allocation of suitable equipment to projects to ensure our customer commitments can be safely met.

Our ideal candidate will be required to support, under the guidance of the senior technicians, the conclusion of unplanned technical challenges that may occur during the on-site delivery of the products.

Our new Technician will have a (minimum) recognised qualification such as SVQ, ONC or City and Guilds in Engineering or similar, with a minimum 4 years’ experience in similar or transferable role. We would consider applicants who are time served apprentices or similar, alternatively, qualifications may be replaced by proven track record and applicable experience in a similar role in line with experience requirements below.

We will require our new Technician to have a technical competence (on conclusion of training) in the operation of the following equipment: Cross Fleet Tube Plugging Equipment, Valve Seat Replacement Equipment and General & Bespoke Machining Equipment. You will have an appreciation or welding techniques and have a basic Commercial Awareness particularly relating to change management.
