Role Overview:
As a Design Project Manager working on nuclear defence projects, you will lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of complex design solutions within a highly regulated and secure environment.
This role involves managing multi-disciplinary design teams, ensuring compliance with stringent safety, security, and quality standards, and maintaining alignment with defence project requirements and timelines.
Responsibilities:
- Project management of design development contracts for both marine and onshore infrastructure. This may include Authority led design packages, D&B packages, or specialist Contractor ECI aspects.
- Manage the contract to maintain a productive working relationship with industry partners and suppliers, monitoring their performance in terms of quality, time, cost and reliability. Identify and manage emerging issues to avoid programme delays or cost escalation.
- Be accountable for complying with all agreed processes and operating procedures, and particularly those which are detailed under key infrastructure process.
- Working with the Programme Cost Team, manage financial performance of the design contracts to control expenditure against approved project budget. Be responsible for the provision of financial information and for the update of internal systems on forecast, profiles and estimates to complete.
What We’re Looking For:
Essential:
- SC security clearance, or the ability to obtain in advance of employment.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in an infrastructure design management role.
- Hands on experience of managing delivery using NEC4 contracts including management of change.
- Sound commercial knowledge and understanding of the cost and value of packages. Should be able to question and challenge CE’s.
- Experience of contract administration using CEMAR, or a similar platform.
Desirable:
- Chartered status (PM or Engineering)
- NEC PM accreditation
- Experience in regulated environments
