About the role: Play a key role in shaping the future of electronics engineering. We are seeking an Octopart Product Marketing Manager focusing principally on our engineering users to strengthen our story for electronics engineers, hardware designers, and technical innovators across the industry. This role is designed for someone skilled at crafting technical narratives, translating technical benefits, and connecting deeply with engineering audiences.

The Octopart Product Marketing Manager will play a strategic and hands‑on role influencing product direction, go-to-market strategies, and campaign execution—driven by firsthand insights into the challenges, needs, and aspirations of engineering professionals. This role is based on‑site at our Cambridge office. The successful candidate is expected to work from the office five days per week.

A day in the life of our Product Marketing Manager - Engineering Focus: As a Product Marketing Manager focused on engineering, you will define and communicate the technical and business value of Altium’s solutions for engineering teams, hardware designers, and R&D leaders. You’ll collaborate across Product, Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success teams to ensure our platforms address the most pressing challenges of electronics engineering and are positioned for maximum velocity in technical adoption.

  • Engineering‑Focused Storytelling & Narrative Development: Create engaging stories that explain complicated technical features—such as advanced PCB design, simulation, and hardware collaboration—in a way that shows real benefits for electrical engineers, design engineers, and system architects. Define messaging for workflow efficiency, innovation enablement, error reduction, and integration of engineering tools. Lead the creation of engineering‑focused content (technical presentations, webinars, white papers, technical guides, benchmarking comparisons, and competitive battlecards against EDA platforms). Partner with Brand and Content teams to deliver campaigns for engineering conferences, technical workshops, university outreach, and design contests.
  • Product Influence & Engineering Roadmap Alignment: Act as the voice of engineers—bringing insights on design productivity, workflow pain points, tool interoperability, and next‑gen technologies into product development. Work closely with Product Management to steer roadmap decisions that address engineering bottlenecks, technical feature demands, and integration with other design/manufacturing tools. Define use‑case‑driven value propositions for multi‑board design, real‑time collaboration, simulation, manufacturing integration, and design data management.
  • Cross‑Functional Leadership in Technical Marketing: Collaborate with Sales Enablement to develop materials for technical teams (design playbooks, troubleshooting guides, integration how‑tos, technical objection handling). Support engineering customer and partner engagements, including early access programs, technical advisory boards, and developer‑focused events. Represent engineering marketing in internal strategy sessions, technical planning meetings, and executive forums on product direction.

Who We’re Looking For: 4+ years in B2B product marketing with 2+ years focused on engineering software, tools, or platforms—preferably in electronics, semiconductors, or embedded systems industries. Deep understanding of electronics engineering challenges, including PCB design, workflow optimization, feature innovation, and tool integration. Proven experience driving product narratives for electronics engineers, hardware designers, and technical leaders. Strong background in technical product marketing, engineering software strategy, or design workflow operations. Experience with EDA tools, PCB design platforms, and engineering management software. Knowledge of electronics design life cycles, hardware development pain points, and future‑facing engineering technologies. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related technical field; advanced degrees or MBA are a plus.

Preferred Experience: A background in electronics hardware engineering, design automation, or technical product development is preferred. Experience marketing to engineering managers, hardware designers, CTOs, and technical decision makers. Knowledge of Altium, other EDA platforms, and technical communities relevant to electronics design. Understanding of design analytics, workflow productivity, and engineering performance metrics.
