Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pm (30-minute break)

Contract Type: Ltd Company Contractor

Pay Rate: £25.00 – £30.00 per hour (Ltd)

About the Role:

You’ll take ownership of estimating, planning, and delivering a wide range of steel fabrication projects across domestic, commercial, and industrial sectors. Alongside overseeing workshop activity, you’ll also spend time on site carrying out surveys, assessing project requirements, and ensuring installations run smoothly. This role is ideal for someone with a strong steel background who is ready to step up, or for an existing Project or Operations Lead seeking a new challenge in a hands-on, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the estimating process, producing accurate and competitive quotations for steel fabrication projects.
  • Manage projects from initial enquiry through to completion, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to specification.
  • Oversee day-to-day fabrication shop operations, working closely with a team of 12 skilled fabricators and welders.
  • Report directly to the Director, providing clear updates on project progress, costs, risks, and resource requirements.
  • Maintain strong contractual oversight, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client expectations.
  • Offer hands-on technical support when required, drawing on a solid understanding of steel fabrication processes.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure seamless project delivery.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Proven background in steel fabrication, ideally within a workshop or project-led environment.
  • Confident in estimating and pricing steelwork, with strong commercial awareness.
  • Demonstrable experience managing projects from concept to completion.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to coordinate and motivate workshop teams.
  • Excellent communication and contractual understanding.
  • Practical, hands-on approach with the ability to support technical processes when needed.
  • Full UK Driving Licence (essential).
  • Immediate availability preferred.
