An international renewable energy developer is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join their London team . The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in bulk earthworks and stormwater management and will lead civil and structural engineering activities for utility-scale solar PV plants and associated energy storage or hybrid systems .
This is a long-term opportunity to play a key role in the design and delivery of complex renewable projects across Africa and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the civil and structural design of solar PV plants, including site layouts, foundations, access roads, drainage, earthworks, and structural supports.
- Review and approve geotechnical, hydrological, and topographical studies.
- Optimize site layouts to balance cut-and-fill, minimize costs, and mitigate environmental impact.
- Ensure compliance with local and international engineering standards and permitting requirements.
- Review contractor designs, method statements, and shop drawings.
- Oversee quality control and ensure adherence to project HSE standards.
- Conduct site inspections and resolve civil/structural engineering issues during construction.
- Collaborate with electrical and mechanical teams to ensure coordinated project delivery.
- Support project managers with scheduling, cost estimation, and risk management.

Your Profile
- Bachelor’s degree (BEng/BSc) in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Chartered Engineer status (or actively working towards it).
- 5–7 years of professional experience in civil design and project execution, ideally within large-scale infrastructure or renewable energy projects.
- Skilled in civil design and modeling software (AutoCAD Civil 3D, HEC-RAS, drainage design tools, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of standards in earthworks, drainage, erosion control, and stormwater management (e.g., SANS 1200, BS EN 1990, BS 6031).
- Experience working on international projects and within diverse regulatory environments.
- Excellent communication skills in English (French advantageous).
- Willingness to travel locally and internationally when required.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.
