Alternative Networks (now part of Daisy Group) seeks a permanent Electrical Fitter to report to the Project Engineer and work within the Capital Programme based in our West Ham office.
About the role
You will work as part of a team carrying out the full range of duties associated with Primary and Grid substation construction at voltages between 230 V and 132 kV. You will be responsible for installation, testing, fault location, repair and supervision of work performed by contractors. You will use IT equipment and uphold a strong safety culture and DSR compliance.
Salary: £43,904 per annum plus Inner London Allowance, benefits and a bonus of 3%.

Responsibilities:
- Installation and testing of all plant, apparatus and cables associated with the Grid, Primary and Distribution network.
- Fault location and repair of all plant, apparatus and cables associated with the Grid, Primary and Distribution network.
- Supervise work undertaken by UK Power Networks contractors.
- Ensure all staff work to the DSR and demonstrate a strong safety culture.
- Use IT equipment.
- Supervise construction/maintenance staff within their working party.
Qualifications and Experience:
- City and Guilds 2339 – Level 2 Certificate in Electrical Power Engineering (Preferred) or City and Guilds 2365 – Level 2 Certificate in Electrotechnical Craft or equivalent.
- Completed an approved Apprenticeship in Electrical Fitting, Cable Jointing or Electrical Installation.
- ECS Installation Electrical Card/EUSR SHEA Power or equivalent.
- Flexible and able to work in a team environment.
- Ability to problem solve in a practical way and work under pressure.
- Must have a clean driving licence.
- A good understanding of Health & Safety and Environmental Legislation.
Preferred:
- City and Guilds 2382 – Certificate in the Requirements for Electrical Installations (18th Edition).
- MEWP operator licence.
- PASMA qualification.
- Working within a DNO environment.
- SMSTS competence.
- IOSH Working safely.
- Oxy-propane and gas awareness training.
- Confined space trained.
- Receive PTW and Manage Site Safety.
- Move/Use Cranes/Scaffold in HV Compounds.
- Move/Use Ladders/Long Objects in HV Compounds.
Health & Safety Responsibilities:
Managers and supervisors carry both legal and company responsibilities for ensuring the health and safety of their employees, those under their control and those who might be affected by the work undertaken. Employees must understand health and safety risks, apply controls and comply with environmental obligations. For craft and operational roles that work at height or use fall arrest devices, an upper weight limit of 116 kg applies due to maximum safe working load of the equipment.
