This craft attendant linesperson will report to the field staff supervisor and will work within network operations based in our Eastbourne & Tunbridge Wells region. You will be a permanent employee in our UK Power Networks team.

Salary: £34,726 per annum + benefits and a 3% bonus.

Successful candidates will need to undertake a medical and DBS reference check.

Job Purpose

You are required to assist the Overhead linesperson in fault repairs, network alterations and new connection work on the LV/HV distribution network. This includes restoring LV supplies during fault working and system emergencies, observing procedures to ensure PPE and safe working practices are followed.

Duties
  • Observe all work on live LV apparatus with exposed conductors.
  • Ensure safe use of equipment and that colleagues on site wear the relevant PPE.
  • Manage 'Do Not Disturb' signage when working on live equipment.
  • Prepare and set up equipment for the Linesperson, including tools and vehicle configuration.
  • Assist during live 230/400V apparatus work, observing safety procedures.
  • Use electronic job issuing systems and other IT equipment.
  • Excavate holes safely and collaborate with external contractors.
Qualifications
  • At least GCSE level or equivalent.
  • Sound knowledge of electrical distribution.
  • Understanding of the Electricity at Work Act and ability to read electrical diagrams and maps.
  • Completion of NRSWA Units 1, 2, and 3.
  • Initial training at a training centre focused on policy and health & safety.
  • Full UK driving licence.
Health & Safety Responsibilities

Managers and supervisors are responsible for ensuring the health and safety of employees, including briefing workers and ensuring appropriate competence. Employees must understand health and safety risks, apply controls, and manage environmental impacts where relevant. For craft and operational roles involving work at height, the upper weight limit is 116 kg due to maximum safe working load of fall arrest devices.
