Team Overview: The Low Carbon Solutions team focuses on developing and delivering sustainable, energy-efficient mechanical and electrical systems that reduce environmental impact and support clients’ net-zero goals. By integrating cutting-edge technologies and innovative design strategies, the department drives the transition to low carbon building services, helping Alternative Heat lead in environmentally responsible solutions while meeting evolving regulatory and client demands.
Role Overview: The Building Services Manager will be responsible for coordinating multidisciplinary teams and managing the building services delivery strategy across multiple projects. The role focuses on ensuring technical quality, programme performance, and efficient collaboration between design, commercial, manufacturing, and site operations teams. This is a leadership role suited to an experienced building services professional with strong mechanical knowledge and a background in complex commercial or infrastructure projects.
What You'll be Doing:
- Review project documentation to define scope, requirements, and delivery strategy
- Establish project deliverables and coordinate internal building services activities
- Monitor progress against programme milestones and ensure timely delivery
- Lead the team on preparation of Tender packs and technical vetting of Tender returns
- Prepare and issue weekly project status reports
- Collaborate with in-house design, BIM, commercial, and operations teams to progress projects to construction stage
- Support BIM and Design Teams with services co-ordination in complex distribution scenarios
- Host internal coordination meetings to track progress and resolve issues
- Coordinate with external consultants to ensure designs meet project requirements and regulatory standards
- Review multidisciplinary deliverables including:
- Mechanical & electrical building services
- BMS and controls
- Structural and construction elements
- Identify and implement value engineering opportunities
- Identify delivery risks and lead internal workshops to develop mitigation strategies
- Monitor quality across design and delivery stages
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and client specifications
- Lead client meetings and act as the main building services interface
- Liaise with site operations teams to support offsite manufacturing and onsite installation
- Lead formal handover to operations teams at the appropriate project stage
- Attend site surveys and project meetings as required
- Support the implementation of offsite construction and installation strategies
- Liaise with Commissioning Team to ensure commissioning reviews are undertaken and strategies are developed and implemented
- Undertake site visits to support the Operations Team and Sub Contractors ensuring installations are in line with design, contract requirements and are on programme
- Any other duties deemed necessary by Management
