Team Overview: The Commercial department is central to ensuring the financial viability and contractual success of our projects. Responsible for cost management, procurement, valuations, and contract administration, the team works closely with project managers, quantity surveyors, and clients to monitor budgets, mitigate risk, and maximise value throughout the project lifecycle. Their expertise ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with contractual obligations — safeguarding both client satisfaction and company profitability.

Role Overview: We are hiring for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to specialise within the Decarbonisation sector. On our Projects within the Decarbonisation Sector, we assume the role of the Main Contractor, meaning we have control of all elements of the build; Civils, Construction, Building Fabric, Solar, M&E etc.

What You'll be Doing:

  • Responsible for ensuring the successful financial delivery of projects through effective cost control, monthly valuations, and management of variations and change orders.
  • Works closely with contracts, estimating, and pre-construction teams to gain a full understanding of project scopes, while reviewing package allowances and subcontractor awards prior to project handover.
  • Duties include engaging and negotiating with subcontractors, preparing subcontract documentation, reviewing contracts and supplier terms, monitoring monthly job performance, and reporting findings to the Lead QS.
  • The role also involves preparing and following up on monthly valuations and subcontractor payments, attending commercial meetings to provide updates on negotiations and project performance, supporting Project Managers with commercial advice, and travelling to project sites across England and occasionally Wales, Scotland, or Ireland as required.
