Overview

We are an industry leader in UK’s Building Services sector, specialising in the design, supply, and installation of prefabricated energy solutions, turnkey design, build, and operate solutions for commercial energy centres and district heating. The opportunity is to join the fabrication and welding teams on dayshift at Scarva facilities.

The role focuses on fabricating pipe arrangements and coordinating with skilled welders across Scarva sites, producing welds as required (TIG/MIG), and supporting onsite fabrication activities from shop drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Take direction from the Site Supervisor on work requirements.
  • Read and fully understand pipe fabrication drawings for each project.
  • Fabricate pipe sets for various diameters (typically carbon steel & stainless steel pipe, 65mm – 500mm) from shop drawings.
  • Ensure welding procedures are followed and pipe preparation and fit-up meet the required standards.
  • Liaise regularly with Quality Control regarding defects and non-conformances.
  • Complete cross-training in various welding activities to provide coverage when absences occur in the Welding Department.
  • Adhere to Company Health & Safety processes.
  • Progress allocated work in a timely manner in accordance with workload and specifications.
  • Operate MIG/TIG or MMA welding equipment.
  • Use precision measurement instruments and metal cutting/grinding equipment.
  • Highlight faults or damage to machinery and tooling.
  • Maintain clean tools, equipment, and work areas; set an example on site.
  • Undertake any other duties deemed necessary by management.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Essential Criteria

  • Previous experience as a Fabricator or Welder, preferably including pipe fabrication.
  • Ability to interpret welding procedure requirements.
  • Ability to use shop floor hand tools (grinders, hand plasmas, etc.).
  • Confident in understanding shop fabrication and assembly drawings.
  • Organised and structured approach to work; good attendance and timekeeping.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to maintain productive relationships with colleagues.
  • Committed to training in line with company standards.

Desired Criteria

  • Previous experience as a pipe fabricator producing a wide range of pipe arrangements with TIG/MAG and MMA capability.
  • Experience in heavy fabrication, architectural steelwork, or stainless/carbon welding environments.
