About the role
You will assess and manage patients exploring cannabis based medicines, making the clinical call on whether treatment is appropriate and managing their care from there. This is still a young field. The evidence base is growing, best practice is being written in real time, and you will have a genuine hand in shaping it.
You do not need experience with cannabis based medicines. You need sound clinical judgement, an open mind and an interest in doing things differently. We provide full specialist training, and our multidisciplinary model means you are never working in isolation. Nurses and pharmacists handle pre consultation and follow up tasks, so your time is spent where it matters: with patients.
What you will be doing
- Providing high quality care for patients seeking medical cannabis treatment
- Conducting patient consultations, including assessment and ongoing management
- Contributing to clinical outcome data collection to support evidence based practice
- Supporting clinical governance and maintaining robust standards of patient care
- Working closely within a multidisciplinary team of nurses and pharmacists
- Taking part in ongoing training and development, including bespoke specialist training in cannabis based medicines (CBPMs)
What you need
- Full GMC Registration
- Completion of Specialist Training (CCST/CCT) or equivalent certification
- On the GMC Specialist Register for Neurology
- A genuine interest in alternative therapies
- Willingness to participate in data collection and reporting

Training and development
- Attendance at a recognised Medical Cannabis Course for Specialist Physicians, sponsored by Montu
- Specialist training delivered by experts
- Ongoing support on clinical protocols, prescribing practices and Montu's systems
Working arrangements
- Fully remote with flexible working hours and days
- Standard sessions are 4 hours of patient consultations, and you choose your preferred days and hours
- To support onboarding, we ask for a minimum commitment of 2 sessions per week (8 hours) initially, so you become confident with our platform
- Appointments are 15 minutes for new and existing patients. Our multidisciplinary model means nurses and pharmacists handle pre consultation and follow up prescribing tasks, so Consultants focus on prescribing and patient care
