An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Operations Manager to take full leadership of a busy and growing energy and resource recovery business. This is a key site leadership role, responsible for driving performance, safety, and compliance across all operations. Reporting to the Plant Manager, you’ll oversee day-to-day site activities, leading operational and maintenance teams to maximise throughput, efficiency, and recovery rates. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping site culture, improving processes, and ensuring the facility consistently meets environmental and commercial targets.

Key Responsibilities of the Operations Manager include:

  • Lead, motivate and develop site teams across operations, drivers and maintenance, embedding a strong safety-first and high-performance culture.
  • Take ownership of performance, driving throughput, quality of output, and operational efficiency against clearly defined KPIs.
  • Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety, environmental permits and waste regulations, acting as the responsible site lead when required.
  • Coordinate closely with maintenance to maximise plant availability, reduce downtime, and deliver continuous improvement across equipment and processes.
  • Manage site budgets, reporting and performance metrics, identifying opportunities to improve cost control and operational output.

What you’ll need:

  • Proven leadership experience within a waste, recycling or wider process/industrial environment.
  • Strong understanding of materials handling, separation processes, or continuous plant operations.
  • Experience managing site performance, budgets, and regulatory compliance in a safety-critical environment.
  • Engineering or technical background (mechanical, electrical or process) with IOSH or NEBOSH preferred.
  • A hands-on, visible leadership style with the ability to drive engagement and accountability across teams.
