Altera Recruitment Group is partnering with a leading energy infrastructure business operating across the UK power generation sector. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established operational team, playing a key role in driving health, safety and compliance standards across a busy energy generation site.
Working closely with the Plant Manager and wider operational leadership team, the Health & Safety Advisor will promote a positive safety culture, ensure compliance with UK legislation and ISO 45001 standards, and lead continuous improvement initiatives across all aspects of site health and safety. This position is ideally suited to an experienced Health & Safety professional with a background in Energy from Waste, Biomass, Power Generation or another high hazard industrial environment who is passionate about influencing behaviours and driving operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities of the Health & Safety Advisor- Support the Plant Manager in delivering all site health and safety requirements in line with legislation, ISO 45001 and company standards
- Lead site health and safety initiatives, behavioural safety programmes, audits, inspections and committee meetings
- Manage incident investigations, reporting, root cause analysis and the implementation of corrective actions
- Provide health and safety guidance to operational teams, contractors and stakeholders while monitoring site compliance and performance
- Support planned outages by overseeing health and safety compliance, contractor management, permit audits and risk management activities
- NEBOSH General Certificate as a minimum
- Previous Health & Safety experience within Energy from Waste, Biomass, Power Generation or a similar heavy industrial environment
- Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation, ISO 45001 and safety management systems
- Experience conducting audits, incident investigations and contractor management
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence a positive health and safety culture across operational teams
- A salary of up to £46,000, depending on experience
