Trainee Proposals Engineer Altera Recruitment Group is working with a growing engineering contractor within the UK water sector. Due to continued growth, they are now looking to appoint a Trainee Proposals Engineer to support the preparation of high quality technical and commercial submissions for clean water and wastewater projects. This is an excellent opportunity for an Electrical Engineering Graduate, junior engineer or technically minded individual looking to develop a long term career in proposals, estimating and tendering. The role offers structured training, hands on experience and clear progression within a growing engineering business. Key Responsibilities for the Trainee Proposals Engineer: * Support the preparation of technical and commercial proposals for clean water and wastewater projects * Review client enquiries, tender documents, drawings and specifications alongside experienced team members * Assist with compiling cost estimates for labour, materials, subcontractors and equipment * Work with engineering, delivery, commercial teams, suppliers and subcontractors to gather accurate project information and pricing * Support tender submissions, proposal documentation and site visits while developing an understanding of the full tendering process What We're Looking For: * Basic electrical engineering knowledge or a relevant engineering qualification * Ability to read, or willingness to learn how to interpret, drawings, specifications and technical documents * Strong numerical skills with good attention to detail * Organised and proactive approach with a genuine interest in proposals, estimating and tendering * Good communication and IT skills, alongside a full UK driving licence What You'll Get: * Competitive trainee level salary dependent on background and experience * Structured training and mentoring from experienced engineering and commercial teams * Clear long term progression into Proposals Engineer, Estimator or Commercial roles * Exposure to major UK water utility frameworks and projects * Company pension and holiday package If you are interested in this opportunity, please apply with your most up-to-date CV or get in touch with Daniel Pope
