Altera Recruitment Group is partnered with a long-established engineering organisation recognised for delivering complex, high-precision solutions to highly regulated sectors such as aerospace and defence. The business operates end-to-end from early design work through to full production and is known for its focus on quality, innovation, and continual improvement. They are now seeking a Document Controller to join their Technical Services function. This position plays a key part in ensuring technical documentation, design data and project records remain accurate, secure, and fully compliant with industry and regulatory standards. It’s an ideal role for someone who enjoys structure, accuracy, and supporting engineering teams with robust configuration practices.
Key Responsibilities of the Document Controller include:
- Maintain configuration baselines and oversee version control for technical documents, drawings, and product data.
- Ensure documentation and processes align with recognised standards (e.g. ISO and defence/aerospace frameworks).
- Manage document storage, archiving, access permissions, and overall data integrity.
- Produce configuration-related reports and track performance indicators for project and compliance activity.
- Provide administrative and document-handling support to the Technical Services Office, including scanning and data entry.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience in configuration control, document administration, or a similar role within engineering or manufacturing.
- Strong organisational skills with a precise and methodical approach to handling technical information.
- Knowledge of configuration principles and exposure to quality or regulatory standards.
- Competence using document management or ERP systems (IFS experience useful but not essential).
- A collaborative working style and the ability to support multiple teams effectively.
