Altera Recruitment Group is seeking a reliable and proactive Shift Operations Technician to join a high-performing team at a modern energy facility in South Lanarkshire. This full-time, shift-based role offers an excellent opportunity for a skilled operations technician with a background in power generation, process engineering, or a related field. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the continuous monitoring and safe operation of the plant, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards. Ideal candidates will bring hands-on experience in industrial operations, a solid understanding of SCADA systems, and a commitment to operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and control plant operations through SCADA/DCS systems to ensure safe and efficient performance.
  • Conduct routine inspections and checks on all plant equipment, reporting anomalies and operational data to the Shift Team Leader.
  • Engage with and supervise on-site contractors to ensure work is carried out safely and in compliance with company procedures.
  • Maintain accurate operational records and support environmental reporting requirements.
  • Uphold high standards of housekeeping and ensure adherence to all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies.

Candidate Requirements

  • Qualified to ONC level, NVQ, or equivalent in Engineering, Process Operations, or a related technical discipline.
  • Proven experience in energy-from-waste, biomass, power generation, steam boilers, chemical, petrochemical, or marine environments.
  • Proficient in the use of SCADA systems for monitoring and operational control.
  • Strong team player with a 'can-do' attitude and the flexibility to provide shift cover when required.
  • Confident in the use of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and capable of interpreting technical data and reports.
