Main Responsibilities:
- Carry out installations and deinstallations of pumps, pipework and associated equipment as directed by the Installation Supervisor, ensuring the safe, efficient and effective completion of installation projects.
- Ensure the safe installation of a range of pipework and associated fittings including Bauer fittings, large pipework (up to 800mm diameter steel pipe), hydraulic pump heads and manifolds.
- Identify and recommend innovative solutions and processes to enhance our business and customer offering, making ourselves more efficient in completing installations.
- Work in conjunction with specialist sub-contractors to complete the project at hand.
- Liaise with site supervisors and the installation manager to provide up-to-date information on installation progress and any potential problems.
- Assist with loading/unloading vehicles, checking against paperwork for missing items, damages, and fuel charges.
Working in Depot Location:
- Keep the yard and workshops in a clean and tidy state.
- Maintain hose and accessories storage, ensuring minimum stocking levels are checked and management teams are advised.
- Test all lay flat hose, clean, roll, and clearly mark each roll by size and length.
- Assist fitting/electrical staff with tasks as instructed, such as lifting and moving in depot or on-site.
- Clean hire equipment prior to entry to the workshop using pressure/steam-cleaning equipment.
Health and Safety:
- Promote and exercise the company’s mission statement and core values to ensure a uniformed approach to all installation work across the UK.
- Put safety first every time, demonstrating the confidence, knowledge, and experience to stop the installation and advise your supervisor if any safety issues arise.
- Manage your own site safety and encourage others to work safely.
- All installations must prioritise safety, with safe working methods always demonstrated.
- Review and work in accordance with on-site RAMS (Risk Assessment and Method Statement) to ensure all risks are identified and control measures communicated.
- Comply with any additional site safety requirements and keep the installation work area clean and tidy.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Essential: Previous demonstrable experience in a similar environment (water industry, construction, oil or gas) with knowledge of on-site safety.
- Must be physically able due to the role's requirements.
- Aptitude to work on client sites, including construction, wastewater, and clean water.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities with a calm approach.
- Flexibility with working hours and availability for an 'on call' rota, including working late at short notice if required.
- Willingness to work at heights, in confined spaces, lone working, and with sewage.
- Must be willing to travel throughout the UK and occasionally work away from home.
- Full UK driving licence (no more than 6 points).
- Preferred: Holder of a construction Skills CSCS card, National Water Hygiene Card, confined space trained, forklift truck operator certification, and understanding of temporary/permanent pumping solutions.
Statutory Requirement: Each employee must ensure that all tasks are carried out within the Company’s Health and Safety Policy and relevant Codes of Practice, including COSHH sheets and other instructions, to minimise risk to themselves and others while maintaining good housekeeping.
