Altera Recruitment Group is supporting a well established renewable energy operator in the search for an experienced Plant Technician to join its on site Engineering team at an anaerobic digestion facility. This is a hands on maintenance role supporting production plant, AD process equipment, pumps, utilities, and site infrastructure. The position suits a practical, proactive technician who enjoys fault finding, improving plant reliability, and working within a safety focused process environment.
Responsibilities
- Planned and reactive maintenance on production plant, AD process equipment, pumps, heating systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and site infrastructure
- Prompt response to breakdowns to minimise downtime and maintain plant availability
- Accurate recording of maintenance activities, breakdowns, and corrective actions using a CMMS
- Maintain asset data, breakdown history, and maintenance records
- Schedule and organise maintenance and improvement works, liaising with suppliers for parts and services
- Monitor spare parts stock levels and identify upcoming maintenance risks
- Supervise contractors on site, ensuring safe systems of work and RAMS compliance
- Carry out pump repairs, refurbishments, and new installations
- Support engineering projects and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications
Essential
- Mechanical or electrical engineering qualification, or time served with strong hands on experience
- Minimum two to three years maintenance engineering experience in an industrial or process environment
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Experience using a computerised maintenance management system
- Strong understanding of safe systems of work
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to take part in a call out rota
Desirable
- Anaerobic digestion, wastewater, or process plant experience
- Working knowledge of pumps, heating systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics
- Contractor supervision experience
- IOSH, MEWP, or telehandler certification
What’s on Offer?
- Salary £35,000 to £40,000 depending on experience
- Full time role, 42.5 hours per week
- Call out rota approximately one week in four
