Alter Technology UK is a technology-oriented company active in the field of Optoelectronics, Microelectronics, Space and MEMS packaging design and assembly services. Alter Technology provides sub-contract design and assembly for optoelectronics and microelectronics devices.

Our Production Operators need to be skilled and flexible within the company and will be required to do several different operations during their shift.

Role

Working as part of a team under the supervision of the Shift Leader & Production Manager:

  • Recording data results accurately on the process flow sheets and ERP system during product manufacturing.
  • Follow manufacturing documents including assembly instructions and quality acceptance criteria.
  • Manual and semi-auto assembling packaged microelectronic and optoelectronic parts.
  • Cleaning and maintaining work areas and machinery.
  • Inspection of parts in manufacture using microscopes and precision measuring equipment.
  • Continuous quality standards met as set out by quality criteria.
  • Testing and packaging completed parts.
  • Set up machines (calibration, cleaning etc) to start production cycle.
  • Additional overtime may be required at the weekends.

Shifts

40hr week, 10hr shifts. Shift allowances apply.

  • Early shift hours: 06:00-16:30 Tue-Fri
  • Back shift hours: 12:00-22:30 Mon-Thu
  • Night shift hours: 20:00-06:30 Mon-Thu (preferred but not essential)
Core Skills Required
  • Ability to concentrate while doing repetitive tasks.
  • Good concentration and attention to detail to quickly notice errors on a production or assembly line.
  • Strong teamwork skills, as the job involves working with others in a team.
  • A technical mind and good hand-eye dexterity.
  • Working knowledge of automated manufacturing equipment, including identification of problems so you can report non-conformances / problems accurately to the relevant person.
  • Troubleshooting skills to successfully determine the cause of production issues.
  • Knowledge of the relevant safety and quality standards and procedures.
  • The ability to interpret technical specifications and information.
  • The ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to record manufacturing data and results accurately.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience of working within a Microelectronics/Optoelectronics environment.
  • Lead free soldering experience advantageous.
  • Experience in one or more of the following key manufacturing processes:
    • Wire bonding
    • Die attach
    • Wafer saw
    • Encapsulation / hermetic sealing
    • Optical fibre / lens alignment

References will be required and checked. The vacancy will be on a 3-month probationary basis and is a permanent position. Salary will be discussed at interview stage and will be competitive.
