Alter Technology UK is a technology-oriented company active in the field of Optoelectronics, Microelectronics, Space and MEMS packaging design and assembly services. Alter Technology provides sub-contract design and assembly for optoelectronics and microelectronics devices.
Our Production Operators need to be skilled and flexible within the company and will be required to do several different operations during their shift. Working as part of a team under the supervision of the Shift Leader & Production Manager, you will:
- Record data results accurately on the process flow sheets and ERP system during product manufacturing.
- Follow manufacturing documents including assembly instructions and quality acceptance criteria.
- Manually and semi-automatically assemble packaged microelectronic and optoelectronic parts.
- Clean and maintain work areas and machinery.
- Inspect parts in manufacture using microscopes and precision measuring equipment.
- Ensure continuous quality standards are met as set out by quality criteria.
- Test and package completed parts.
- Set up machines (calibration, cleaning etc.) to start production cycle.
Additional overtime may be required at the weekends. Shifts are approximately 40 hours per week, with 10-hour shifts. Shift allowances apply:
- Early shift hours: 06:00-16:30 Tue-Fri
- Back shift hours: 12:00-22:30 Mon-Thu
- Night shift hours: 20:00-06:30 Mon-Thu (preferred but not essential)
Good concentration and attention to detail are required to quickly notice errors on a production or assembly line. You should have:
- Working knowledge of automated manufacturing equipment, including identification of problems to report non-conformances accurately.
- Troubleshooting skills to successfully determine the cause of production issues.
- Knowledge of relevant safety and quality standards and procedures.
- The ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to record manufacturing data and results accurately.
- Lead free soldering experience (advantageous).
- Experience in one or more key manufacturing processes.
The vacancy will be on a 3-month probationary basis and is a permanent position. Flexible working options are available, around business needs – to be discussed at interview.
