The QA Technician plays a key role in ensuring product and process quality across the manufacturing environment. The position supports day‑to‑day quality compliance activities, including inspection, documentation control, audit support, supplier assurance, and maintenance of the ALTER TECHNOLOGY TÜV NORD UK Ltd QMS. The role focuses on carrying out effective quality checks, ensuring adherence to internal procedures, supporting investigations into nonconformities and quality escapes, and helping drive continuous improvement throughout the business. This is a hands‑on position requiring strong attention to detail, good communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards in quality, safety, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • In‑Process & Final Quality Control: Carry out In-coming / in-Process / Outgoing Quality Compliance Checks to ensure production quality control measures are effective, using AQL (Acceptable Quality Level) sampling techniques where appropriate and performing full‑quantity checks when required. Perform Quality Gate effectiveness checks and report deviations or trends.
  • Cleanroom Monitoring: Carry out ESD and particle inspections as required and report any deviations or trend changes.
  • Nonconformance, RMA & CAPA Support: Support NCR, RMA, and CAPA investigations, including data gathering, problem‑solving, and documentation. Assist in investigating Quality Escapes and support implementation of continuous improvement actions. Track and analyse yield and scrap performance, assisting in root‑cause investigations and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives to reduce losses.
  • Audits & Compliance: Support preparation and delivery of Internal and External Audits, including system‑level ISO9001 / EN9100 / 14001 / 45001 audits. Ensure compliance with internal procedures, raising nonconformities when required.
  • QMS, H&S & Environmental Systems Documentation: Support the maintenance of the Alter Technology QMS, ensuring documentation is kept current and compliant with ISO9001 / EN9100 / 14001 / 45001 requirements. Review, approve, and maintain controlled documentation (procedures, acceptance Criteria, work instructions etc) to ensure compliance with company procedures. Maintain audit‑ready records for QMS, Environmental, and H&S systems.
  • Supplier Support: Review and approve suppliers by completing due‑diligence and screening checks, ensuring all suppliers meet company quality, compliance, and documentation requirements. Manage supplier documentation, certifications, and quality requirements. Assist in monitoring supplier performance, ensuring suppliers meet required standards, raising SCAR’s where appropriate.

  • Competent in document control and record‑keeping.
  • Confident communicator across production, engineering, and quality teams.

  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and manage workload across multiple tasks.

Experience Requirements

  • Experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Prior experience in quality inspection, document control, or QA support roles desirable.
  • Working knowledge of QMS processes (EN9100 or ISO9001) advantageous.
  • Training in internal auditing (ISO 9001/EN9100) advantageous.
  • Practical experience using Six Sigma (DMAIC, root‑cause analysis, process mapping) advantageous.
  • H&S or environmental awareness training advantageous.

Working Hours

Standard 40‑hour onsite working week.
