Position Overview
The QA Manager is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of Quality Assurance and Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) across the organisation. This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies while driving continuous improvement in quality systems, environmental performance, and workplace safety. The QA Manager will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to embed a culture of quality and safety throughout the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Quality Assurance
- Develop, maintain, and improve the organisation’s Quality Management System (QMS) in line with ISO 9001 or relevant industry standards.
- Lead internal and external audits; manage corrective and preventive action (CAPA) processes.
- Oversee product and process quality, including inspection, testing, and release procedures.
- Analyse quality performance data and lead initiatives to reduce defects and improve efficiency.
- Manage customer complaints, root cause analysis, and implementation of robust corrective actions.
- Ensure suppliers meet quality standards through audits, assessments, and ongoing performance monitoring.
- Maintain and improve the organisation’s Environmental Management System (EMS), typically aligned with ISO 14001.
- Monitor environmental performance metrics, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
- Lead waste reduction, resource efficiency, pollution prevention, and sustainability initiatives.
- Manage environmental risk assessments and ensure effective emergency response planning.
- Oversee the company’s Health & Safety (H&S) programme in line with ISO 45001 or relevant standards.
- Conduct and manage risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work.
- Ensure compliance with HSE legislation and industry best practices.
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of preventive measures.
- Coordinate employee training on quality, environmental, and safety topics.
- Manage and mentor a team of quality and EHS specialists.
- Develop departmental KPIs and report performance to the leadership team.
- Drive continuous improvement using tools such as Lean, Six Sigma, and risk‑based thinking.
- Support new product introductions, process changes, and operational projects.
- Promote a proactive culture of quality, environmental responsibility, and workplace safety.

- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Experience Requirements
- Significant experience (typically 5+ years) in Quality Assurance, EHS management, or similar roles.
- Proven experience managing integrated management systems (ISO 9001 / 14001 / 45001).
- Track record of successful audit management—internal, customer, and certification audits.
- Experience working in manufacturing, engineering, industrial, or similar operational environments.
- Demonstrated ability to lead continuous improvement and change management initiatives.
Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Professional qualifications such as: Lead Auditor (ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 / ISO 45001), NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent H&S qualification, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt (desirable), Membership of CQI, IEMA, IOSH, or equivalent body (desirable).

Standard working hours: 40 hours per week
