Alter Technology UK is a technology-oriented company active in the field of Optoelectronics, Microelectronics, Space and MEMS packaging design and assembly services. Alter Technology provides sub-contract design and assembly for optoelectronics and microelectronics devices. Our Production Operators need to be skilled and flexible within the company and will be required to do several different operations during their shift.

Job Overview

Manage and lead a team of production staff on shift. Communicate company goals and protocols to production team, motivating shift staff to produce high quality parts in a timely manner. Support production manager to achieve business objectives, reporting on key metrics and team performance.

Job Description

  • Review resource plan and communicate priorities, deadlines, special instructions to team members.
  • Support production team to ensure targets and quality standards are met and that procedures are followed.
  • Lead shift handovers to keep production team informed on the status of product, materials, and equipment.
  • Line manager responsibility for shift members, including leave approvals, assess training requirements, communicating team goals, and performance feedback.
  • Lead PDRs for shift members, following up on objectives at least every 3 months.
  • Engage with line support team to plan for programming, equipment maintenance, and training.
  • Investigate and record sales order variance.
  • Analyse patterns and report on profitability to management.
  • Raising and investigating NCRs, attending NCR meetings to provide updates, propose solutions and communicate corrective actions on shift.
  • Ensure yield & SPC data is transferred to the appropriate database, attending yield meetings to provide insight and assist in improvement actions.
  • Monitor consumables and perishables, controlling material disposition on regular basis.
  • Identify areas of improvement for ERP and liaise with Production Manager.
  • Daily monitoring of 5S activities and housekeeping protocols.
  • Promote safe working practices and highlight potential issues.

  • Experience of working within a Microelectronics/Optoelectronics environment.
  • Experience in one or more of the following key manufacturing processes: Encapsulation / hermetic sealing.
