Alter Technology UK is a technology‑oriented company active in optoelectronics, microelectronics, space, and MEMS packaging design and assembly services. We provide sub‑contract design and assembly for optoelectronic and microelectronic devices. We are looking for skilled and flexible Production Operators who will perform a variety of tasks during their shift.
Responsibilities
- Work as part of a team under the supervision of the Shift Leader & Production Manager.
- Record data results accurately on the process flow sheets and ERP system during product manufacturing.
- Follow manufacturing documents, including assembly instructions and quality acceptance criteria.
- Perform manual and semi‑automatic assembly of packaged microelectronic and optoelectronic parts.
- Clean and maintain work areas and machinery.
- Inspect parts in manufacture using microscopes and precision measuring equipment.
- Ensure continuous quality standards are met as set out by quality criteria.
- Test and package completed parts.
- Set up machines (calibration, cleaning, etc.) to start the production cycle.
- Assist with overtime on weekends as required.
- Take advantage of opportunities for progression within the role.
Shift options: Weekly early and backshift rotation (6:00–16:30 Tues‑Fri & 12:00–22:30 Mon‑Thurs) or Constant night shift (Mon‑Thurs 20:00–06:30). The role is on a 3‑month probationary basis and then becomes permanent.
Core Skills Required
- Ability to concentrate while performing repetitive tasks.
- Good concentration and attention to detail to quickly notice errors on a production or assembly line.
- Strong teamwork skills.
- A technical mind and good hand‑eye dexterity.
- Working knowledge of automated manufacturing equipment and ability to report non‑conformances accurately.
- Troubleshooting skills to determine the cause of production issues.
- Knowledge of relevant safety and quality standards and procedures.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications and information.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to record manufacturing data and results accurately.
- Experience of working within a Microelectronics/Optoelectronics environment.
- Lead‑free soldering experience advantageous.
- Experience in one or more of the following key manufacturing processes: Encapsulation / hermetic sealing.
