This specialist role sits at the intersection of data strategy, vendor management, and technical delivery. The incumbent owns the company’s market data ecosystem—including providers such as Bloomberg, LSEG, and others—and builds a systematic, cost‑efficient approach to sourcing, governing, and distributing market data across the organisation. The role combines deep financial market data expertise with the ability to engage both business stakeholders and technical teams.

Market Data Strategy

  • Define and drive a company‑wide market data strategy, covering sourcing, entitlements, distribution, and governance.
  • Build a comprehensive inventory of all market data consumed across the organisation, by product, business line, and use case.
  • Identify and eliminate overlapping subscriptions and redundant data sourcing.
  • Establish a framework for evaluating and onboarding new data sources in a structured, reusable way.

Vendor & Contract Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for market data vendors (Bloomberg, LSEG, and others).
  • Monitor usage against contractual terms and manage compliance with vendor licensing requirements.
  • Conduct periodic vendor reviews and benchmark against market alternatives.
  • Collaborate with Procurement on contract negotiations and renewals, focusing on cost optimisation and right‑sizing entitlements.

Business Engagement

  • Partner with business lines to understand data requirements and translate them into sourcing decisions.
  • Act as the central intake point for new market data requests, assessing feasibility, cost, and overlap with existing coverage.
  • Educate stakeholders on available data assets to reduce ad‑hoc, duplicative requests.

Data Distribution & ETL

  • Define standards for ingesting, transforming, and delivering market data to consuming systems.
  • Work with data engineering and application teams to streamline ETL pipelines and reduce bespoke integrations.
  • Ensure data quality, timeliness, and consistency across the distribution chain.

Governance & Cost Control

  • Own the market data budget, including invoice validation, cost allocation, and purchase requests.
  • Maintain documentation of entitlements, usage rights, and data lineage.
  • Establish and enforce a request and approval process for new data subscriptions.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in a market data role within financial services (asset management, fund administration, banking, or similar).
  • Deep knowledge of major market data providers and their products—Bloomberg, LSEG/Refinitiv, FactSet, ICE, or equivalent.
  • Solid understanding of financial instruments, asset classes, and the data needs associated with fund operations, valuations, and reporting.
  • Experience managing vendor contracts, entitlements, and usage audits.
  • Familiarity with data distribution architectures and ETL concepts—sufficient to collaborate effectively with data engineering teams.
  • Track record of consolidating or rationalising a fragmented data environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

Key Competencies

  • Domain expertise—brings credibility with both vendors and internal stakeholders through deep market data knowledge.
  • Strategic mindset—thinks beyond individual contracts to build a scalable, long‑term data operating model.
  • Commercial rigour—identifies cost savings and holds vendors accountable to contractual commitments.
  • Cross‑functional collaboration—bridges the gap between business needs and technical delivery.
  • Ownership—comfortable operating autonomously in a greenfield environment with limited existing structure.

What We Offer

  • Support for professional accreditations such as ACCA and study leave.
  • Flexible arrangements and generous holidays.
  • Mentoring throughout your career progression.
  • Active sports, events and social committees across our offices.
  • 24/7 employee assistance programme support.
  • Opportunity to invest in the company’s growth and success through an Employee Share Plan.
  • Additional local benefits depending on your location.
