We are looking for a junior lawyer (NQ-3 years’ PQE) or experienced paralegal to join our busy Agency, Credit and Structured Products in-house legal team. Based in London, this is an opportunity for an energetic, commercially minded and self-motivated candidate with a general corporate/commercial or finance law background and transactional experience to work within a growing business. You will have the opportunity to interact with senior executives and business team leaders on a regular basis. Working together with other members of the global legal team in London, Luxembourg, North America, and Asia-Pacific regions, the primary focus will be European transactions.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Review and negotiate a variety of transactional agreements, typically related to debt instruments eg loan agreements, client contracts, confidentiality agreements.
- Provide legal advice to business partners on a range of commercial and client related issues.
- Carry out legal research, as needed, into the legal and regulatory requirements applying in other European jurisdictions in relation to the provision of Loan Services throughout Alter Domus’ European operations, and cooperate with Alter Domus’ Compliance and in-house Legal Departments in this respect.
- Assist the Credit and Structure Products team to ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory obligations applying to its business.
- Work closely with, direct and manage outside counsel as required in the context of client transactions.
- Become familiar and advise on trustee requirements within different European jurisdictions.
- Strong background in corporate, finance and/or commercial law.
- NQ-3 years relevant post-qualification experience or extensive relevant experience as a paralegal in a leading City law firm or in-house environment.
- Familiarity with private syndicated loans, securitization, secured transaction; an understanding of fund administration will be an advantage.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, and able to conduct in-depth research.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Legal risk awareness and ability to work collaboratively with the business to deliver pragmatic outcome-oriented solutions to legal issues, without compromising on Alter Domus’ policies, protection and values.
- Ability to represent views clearly and succinctly, and to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
- Willingness and ability to develop expertise in new technical areas to consistently high standards.
